Waking Ugly is the hot-pop, chilled-rock concoction created by Melbourne songwriters Lydia Gardner and Darren Pace. They first noted a common desire to someday save the world from non-melodic, boring songs in 2004, so made a pact to spend the following years appearing to lead a normal life, whilst covertly perfecting the recipe for the most intoxicating and addictive songs on the market. Since Waking Ugly celebrated their debut release, Say Something Sweet In November 2010, Darren and Lydia have managed to consistently turn heads, steadily growing their fan base both locally and internationally. American reviewer Wildy Haskell called Say Something Sweet an "EP full of some of the tastiest pop music to emerge from down under in a generation" They received a 5 star review (out of 5) and were added to Wildy's "Certified Desert Island Disc" list. Out of the 600 or so album's reviewed by Wildy in 2010, Say Something Sweet was also listed in his top 60 albums for 2010.
